Dr. Steven Schweinshaupt is pleased to announce the opening of Macon Family Practice at 41 Macon Center Drive in Franklin, North Carolina. He will be open three days each week. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 PM to 8 PM and Wednesdays from 9 AM to 5 PM. The office will schedule appointments and accommodate walk-in patients. At this time the office accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare and cash pay. He would consider it an honor to get to know you and your family.
Dr. Schweinshaupt completed his residency in family practice at Bayfront Medical Center in St Petersburg, Florida. Dr Schweinshaupt completed his residency and now specializes in family practice. He enjoys medically treating those between the years of six and 100.
Dr Schweinshaupt was born in Michigan and grew up in the Bradenton/Sarasota area of Florida. He completed his High School education at Oneco Community Christian School in Oneco, Florida and graduated in 1979. After graduation he attended
Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. He completed is undergraduate studies with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry.
Beginning in the fall of 1984, Dr Schweinshaupt was privileged to attend the University of South Florida for medical school. Go Bulls! Graduation from Medical school was in 1988. Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida was the location for his three year Family Practice residency. After residency he began practicing medicine in Tampa,Florida from 1991-through February of 2022.
During Dr Schweinshaupt’s time in Tampa, he specialized in areas of medicine that he enjoyed. Opiate and alcohol detox was one of the areas he was able to witness a true transformation in his patients. He will continue to facilitate drug detox at his clinic in Franklin.. Currently, he is licensed to use Suboxone or Buprenorphine to help people struggling with a opiate dependence. Also, Dr Schweinshaupt specializes in weight loss. He has had the blessing of helping hundreds of people lose weight and maintain their ideal body weight. After seeing a need for hormone replacement in both men and women, Dr Schweinshaupt began an in-depth study in hormone replacement. Both prescription and bio identical hormones are used to help with symptoms for both men and women.
On a personal note Dr. Schweinshaupt has been married for 39 years. You will meet his wife Connie at the office, she will greet you at the check-in window. Dr. Schweinshaupt and his wife have four adult children. They were greatly blessed by God to have one biological child and three adopted children. At this time, they are excited to love four precious grandchildren. The youngest two grandchildren were born the fall of 2022, just weeks apart. God is good!
Dr. Schweinshaupt has many hobbies. The list includes: fishing, collecting and repairing watches and clocks, programming and re-programming computers, repairing small electronics, “talking and dreaming” about fast cars and a wood- working shop at his home in Franklin,
In February of 2022, they decided to make a huge change and sell their home in Tampa and move to Franklin NC. Now, they enjoy a slower pace in life and are within hours of their adult children and grandchildren. If you ask what brought them to Franklin. They will give you a simple answer, “This is where God lead us.”
Dr Schweinshaupt and his wife are members at Victory Baptist Church in Sylva. Pastor Rusty Wolfrey and his congregation have graciously become their new church home. They are delighted to teach the 4th-6th graders in Master Clubs at Victory Baptist. Again, Dr Schweinshaupt considers it an honor to serve you and your family.
